America….the Free?: the SOPA scare

Introduction

“Imagine a world without free knowledge…without free information.” –Wikipedia

We would have to start paying for what we once used to get for free, which could cause many popular sites and search engines to stop their services. This would mean no more social media such as Facebook and Twitter, no more study or work break entertainment such as YouTube, no more catching up on your favorite TV shows you missed last night on Hulu, and Heaven forbid, no more searching for anything on Google or Wikipedia.

Google+: The New and Expanding Social Network

Introduction

So, what is Google+? It seems pretty surprising that Google is just now coming out with a social media component to add to all it’s other diverse features. But now that Google has, will it effect Facebook in the near future? Google+ saw 67 million visits in November 2011 (after just launching in July 2011) and is expected to grow significantly by the end of 2012. This new social network has unique features such as Circles, Hangouts, and others that Facebook does not currently compete against.

QR Codes: Effective or Useless?

Introduction

Why QR Codes are Effective:

Opinions vary across the charts discussing whether QR codes are really effective or a waste of money, time and space. Many associate these codes as only links to a company website, but they may not realize how much more it can actually do. Just to name a few, you can receive text, add an electronic business card (vCard), compose emails and texts after scanning the code, and of course, upload a URI or URL to your smart phone³.
